GAVINO MURGIA

The core of the DNArte project is the original soundtrack, entirely composed by Gavino Murgia, conceived not as a simple accompaniment to the images, shown on five mega high resolution LED wall screens, but as an authentic musical narration.

Each composition is carefully matched with the visual contents and their historical context, giving voice to the places, symbols and civilizations that have built the cultural identity of the island.

Music thus becomes an invisible partner that drives the audience along a journey through over six thousand years of history and artistic production, portraying the evolution of Sardinia through a universal language.

Murgia's musical writing reflects his extraordinary ability to combine tradition and contemporaneity. If jazz constitutes one of the main expressive languages of the project, it is constantly intertwined with the most archaic sounds of Sardinia. The ancestral vocals echo, with the characteristic guttural basses that have made the artist famous internationally, evoking the ritual depth of island singing.

Alongside the voice, emerges the unmistakable timbre of the launeddas, one of the oldest wind instruments in the Mediterranean, and a refined timbral research that opens up to the influences of the most cultured and sophisticated world music, creating a musical language capable of putting Sardinia in a dialogue with the cultures of the world.
